The Philosophy of Symbolica

1.

"I think it would be safe to say that a bird can fly. Yes, it's a safe phrase, or what most of us would call a safe phrase. Now, I know this is going to sound silly at first, but what if that safe phrase was wrong? See, what we call a safe phrase usually can be said without excluding anybody in the group that is generalized. For example, if I was to say, 'Rats are annoying,' and call it a safe phrase, I would be saying that all rats are annoying to all people, and I would be wrong of course -- there are plenty of kids and scientists that enjoy the company of rats. So, if a safe phrase is wrong, it cannot truly be a safe phrase. Yes, plenty of birds like pigeons and robins can fly, but a penguin is a bird that cannot fly."

2.

"You know what pisses me off: There's always someone watching you and you don't realize it. You may think you've gotten it down, but there's always someone smarter. Much smarter. (And why can't he look like Matthew McConaughey?) Welcome to my world."

3.

"I'm going to be rich someday and I'm going to have every woman beckoning at me, and I'm going to look directly at the news camera and I'm going to say, 'This is sooo much better than getting a piece of ass! Ha, ha, ha!' That's right! (Actually, that's the worst lie ever made up by a gay man but I thought it would be really cute -- especially if I was wearing Versace.)"

4.

"Oh, I am so yearning for Lover. I do not know who Lover is, but Lover will be mine and I shall be his for life. . . . once Lover enters me, and I enter him, we must never find sexual pleasures (orgasms to be exact) outside the two of us. I have a ring that Lover and I must kiss simultaneously, and then I will place the ring on Lover's forefinger before he enters me. Anytime we have intercourse, he must bear the ring."

"One thing that has pissed me off for years is the way women and men are portrayed on television. Women are seen in bras and panties everywhere, men are often afraid to take off their jeans or sweater. Women are shown fully nude, men barely show their asses bare. And tell me, do naked women really have sex with men while the men wear Levi jeans? I mean, the men just have it out of the zipper. Gracious, that's got to hurt. I think that men and women should be portrayed equally in sexual ways or else they shouldn't be portrayed sexually at all."
